Lifetime Health Plan for Cats

Caring for your beloved cat is a life-long commitment. Cats age 4-5 times faster than people and as they age their health care needs accelerate. It is important not only to give vaccines and yearly examinations, but also to give ancillary care that is appropriate for their age. We strongly recommend preventative medicine to avoid having small problems become big ones, and to allow the earliest possible prevention of disease. Below you will find our recommendations for the life-long care of your cat:

Kittens: Feed a premium dry kitten diet (please ask the staff for recommendations)
Comprehensive physical exam at 8 weeks
FDYRCC vaccine at 8 and 12 weeks
FeLY vaccine at 12 and 16 weeks (if exposure possible)
FeLV test at 8 weeks
Rabies vaccine at 12 weeks
Deworming at 8 and 12 weeks
Fecal examination for parasites at 16 weeks
Spay or neuter at 6 months
FLY test at 6 months
Years 1-12: Feed a premium dry adult diet (please ask the staff for recommendations)
Comprehensive physical exam yearly
FDYRC vaccine at year 1, then every 3 years thereafter
FeLY vaccine yearly (if exposure possible)
Rabies vaccine yearly
FIV/FeLV test yearly (if patient has exposure to outside cats)
Yearly fecal examination (if patient goes outdoors)
Dental cleaning every 2-4 years, depending upon diet and homecare
Limited blood panel and urinalysis at years 5 and 7
Complete blood panel, urinalysis, and thyroid test yearly after age 7
Years 13-22: Feed a premium dry senior diet (please ask the staff for recommendations)
Comprehensive physical exam every 6 months
FDYRC vaccine every 3 years
FeLV vaccine yearly (if exposure possible)
Rabies vaccine yearly
FIV/FeLV test yearly (if patient has exposure to outside cats)
Yearly fecal examination (if patient goes outdoors)
Dental cleaning every 1-2 years depending upon diet and homecare
Blood pressure measurement every 6 months
Complete blood panel, urinalysis, and thyroid test yearly
