Preventative medicine is very important to keep them in the best health at all times. With regular care and attention to their needs you can substantially increase the life-span and quality of your dog’s life. Below you will find our recommendations for the life-long care of your dog:

Feed a premium dry puppy diet (please ask the staff for recommendations) Comprehensive physical exam at 8 weeks DHPP vaccine at 8, 12, and 16 weeks Intranasal Bordatella/Adenovirus/Parainfluenza vaccine at 12 weeks Rabies vaccine at 12 weeks Deworming at 8 and 12 weeks Fecal examination for parasites at 16 weeks Giardia vaccine (if exposure is likely) at 12 and 16 weeks Start monthly heartworm preventative between April and September Spay or neuter at 6 months |
| Years 1-7: |
Feed a premium dry adult diet (please ask the staff for recommendations) Comprehensive physical exam yearly DHPP vaccine yearly Rabies vaccine at 1 year, then every 3 years thereafter Intranasal Bordatella/Adenovirus/Parainfluenza vaccine every 6-12 months (depending on likelihood of exposure) Giardia vaccine yearly (if exposure likely) Yearly fecal examination for parasites Dental cleaning every 2-3 years depending upon diet, home care, etc. (note: All dogs should receive daily brushing of their teeth) Limited blood panel and urinalysis at years 5 and 7 Heartworm testing every year (in April) Monthly oral heartworm preventative from April to September |
